Take A Look Around

The new Superpower they say we might be
But WHY this concept?
And on which lines their assessment runs- I fail to understand

Maybe they haven't seen the destitute
that run amok every traffic signal
Maybe they haven't seen the corruption
that prevents the common man from taking a legal step
Maybe they haven't seen the divide- amongst the rich and the poor
that seems to grow every day
Maybe they haven't seen the dirt
that infiltrates the slums
that causes so many diseases
that ruins the public hygiene
Maybe they haven't noticed the derogatory ratio of boys to girls-
It's hard to notice in this population of 1.1 billion
Maybe they haven't noticed the lack of public facilities
Maybe they haven't noticed the fall of government services-
because they only use private facilities
And most probably they won't notice this silent appeal
to help improve the conditions
because their assessment is only limited,
LIMITED to those who have enough money but NO heart.


*this poem is about my country India and how it needs only a little momentum in the right direction away from self-centred bureaucrats.
